Step-by-Step Guide to No-Sew Pillow Covers

Materials Needed:

  • Fabric of your choice
  • Fabric glue or iron-on adhesive tape
  • Pillow insert or existing throw pillow
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape or ruler

Instructions:

1. Measure Your Pillow:

  • Measure the dimensions of your pillow insert or existing throw pillow. This will determine the size of fabric squares you'll need for the pillow covers.

2. Cut Fabric Squares:

  • Using the measurements from step 1, cut two squares of fabric that are slightly larger than your pillow dimensions. For example, if your pillow is 18x18 inches, cut two fabric squares that are about 19x19 inches to allow for hemming.

3. Hem the Edges:

  • Lay one fabric square flat with the wrong side facing up. Fold the edges of the fabric over about half an inch and apply fabric glue or iron-on adhesive tape along the folded edge.
  • Use a hot iron to activate the adhesive tape if you're using it. Press firmly to ensure a strong bond. Repeat this process for all four edges of the fabric square.

4. Attach the Second Square:

  • Once the edges are hemmed, lay the second fabric square flat with the wrong side facing up. Position the first fabric square on top of it, right side facing up.
  • Align the edges of the two fabric squares and press firmly to adhere them together. Make sure the hemmed edges are on the inside of the pillow cover.

5. Seal the Edges:

  • Apply fabric glue or iron-on adhesive tape along three of the edges of the pillow cover, leaving one edge open for inserting the pillow.
  • Press the edges together firmly to seal them. If using adhesive tape, use a hot iron to activate the adhesive and ensure a secure bond.

6. Insert the Pillow:

  • Once the glue or adhesive tape has dried, carefully turn the pillow cover right side out through the open edge.
  • Insert your pillow insert or existing throw pillow into the cover, ensuring it fills out the corners completely.

7. Seal the Final Edge:

  • Fold the raw edges of the open edge inward and apply fabric glue or adhesive tape to seal it shut.
  • Press firmly to ensure a strong bond and allow the glue or adhesive tape to dry completely before using the pillow.

8. Enjoy Your New Pillow Cover:

  • Once the glue or adhesive tape has dried completely, your no-sew pillow cover is ready to use! Place it on your sofa, bed, or favorite chair to instantly refresh your living space with style and flair.
